You may have figured out that if you leave me alone too long with tools I’m bound to build something. True to form, I’ve got my heart set on building a school, a bicycle education facility. Think of a high school lab but with tools. We will use this facility to teach curriculum based, after school programs about bicycle mechanics to middle and high school aged kids. We’ll teach on donated bikes; assess their needs, fix them and then get them back out into the community where they’re needed most.
I’d like to keep the classes as close to free as possible. In order to offset the cost of running
the school we will offer adult classes for a fee, sell a percentage of the donated bikes and run a small storefront where we'll sell tool kits, workbooks, repair stands and all the basics that one
needs to pull their bike out of the garage and get it rolling again.
How can you help?
Just throw a few bucks our way! Every little bit helps. After you’ve done that tell people about us.
Round two of fundraising is kicking off. We're looking for the funds to get started on a much smaller scale. This campaign coupled with the $3,040 (indiegogo) and $720(cash/check) we've already raised will build us 2 benches and teaching materials to get the classes started. It buys parts to repair donated bicycles, and rents space. The classes will be much smaller to start and we'll be focused much more or sales to afford building the school we envision! Thank you for you’re support!
Thanks so much for all your support!
